Laina’s Weekend Renovation, Part 1

Whoever thought of textured walls can rot in hell in my book. That may sound harsh, but if you have had these walls in your home then you probably have the same feelings towards them. There is no fix for what has been created; not an easy one anyway. The general consensus is you must A) sand down the walls, prime them, and then paint. First of all my handy work would not result in a smooth and even finish. I would most likely generate a hole in the wall or have inconsistent waves throughout the room due to my inability to use a sander correctly (I am too impatient to start with a high grit sand paper to then go back over my work with a low grit for a smooth finish). The other “fix” is to B) apply new sheet-rock…. I have nothing else to say, these are full on reno’s!

Our guest bath has these lovely walls. Not only are they textured by the old owners choice, they are textured by them moving towel rods around and leaving smooth plaster marks on the bumpy rough everywhere else walls! It looks ridiculous and I have had enough looking at it. Oh, and did I mention the walls are BEIGE?!

So, with my husband going out of town this weekend I have decided to do something about it! I have found another alternative which is more aesthetically pleasing, less labor intensive, and cheap; it is beadboard. YES! Tall, clean, pretty, white beadboard which stands around 5ft tall to cover those damn towel rod holes! and then a little paint for the upper 3ft portion for a pop of color! This is the look I am going for.

Stay tuned for pictures and updates as I progress on this project and find out if I will need someone to rescue my reno!
