Weekend Renovation (Turned Week and Half Long) Part 3

Well, we are at the end of the road on our bathroom reno and I should have known all along this was not a weekend project. However, I will say much was done on that first weekend! At the end of last week I convinced my loving husband to pull the old toilet so the floors could go in. For once, something actually went smooth (until it came time to install the new toilet and faucet, but I will get to that later). We did not spill any of the “clean” toilet bowl water throughout the house, it didn’t drain until we made it out the door (and I mean the minute we stepped out the door, all the water came flowing out!).
Scout brought her toys over to help too, she knew we needed a few extra hands! On the right you can see the toilet has been removed and my husband is working on pulling up the wax ring.

Here we have the floor down. On the left is before the grout and the right is after the grout. I will say, if my career in real estate doesn’t workout, I may have something to work with in the grouting world.

So last night was when the new toilet went in. The install of the commode itself was not bad, although we did have a rough time getting the tank to fasten to the bowl at first. We ended up making two plumbing runs to Ace Hardware in order to find the right connection from the plumbing line to the tank. The original one was too short. So, we bought a 12in, but that was too long. We quickly rushed back because they close at 5pm at it was 5:10pm and opted for the 9in. Let’s just say there were some unhappy comments made during this period.
While putting the baseboards on the only tube of caulk I had purchased ruptured from the other end; the project was down for the rest of the night… The cat found the new toilet rather interesting without the water in it.

This project is just about done! I will give the final update in another few days with completed pictures of the space!
